Just realized I've replaced over 500 refrigerator door gaskets in the last 10 years. That number kind of blew my mind.

I was cleaning out my van and found a stack of old work orders. Started counting them up out of curiosity. It's a simple job, but seeing that total made me think about how many times I've explained to a customer that a warm fridge is usually just a bad seal. Anyone have a go-to method for getting those new gaskets to seat perfectly on the first try? I still fight with the corners on some models.

Honestly that number seems low to me. I ran a small appliance repair service for years and we'd do that many in a single busy summer. A lot of people ignore the problem until their food spoils. The corners are always a pain, but warming the new gasket with a hairdryer makes it way more flexible to work with.

Wait, 500 in a decade? That's a fridge seal every single week.

Hold on, 500 fridges in ten years? That's like one a week... I get that seals go bad, but is it really that common of a problem? Seems like a lot of people might be calling for a simple fix they could maybe handle themselves if they knew.
