Rant: My brother-in-law's dryer fix cost me extra cash

He insisted on taking apart the drum without checking the belt first. Now the whole unit needs new parts I could have avoided. I get that people want to save money, but guessing on repairs just makes it worse. Trust me, a quick call to a pro saves headaches. Have you dealt with relatives who think they know your job better?

My uncle flooded the kitchen fixing a leaky sink.

Nah, you gotta try and learn somehow.

Ever notice how the most confident "I can fix that" guys create the biggest messes? I once tried to replace a toilet fill valve to save a few bucks... ended up with a bathroom floor pond and a very expensive plumber's weekend emergency call. Now I just watch YouTube videos and sigh, knowing my limits. Sometimes you gotta pay the "I told you so" tax to learn.

That overconfidence tax always ends up costing double in the end.
