Spent $95 on a vacuum gauge for leak testing, and one call back later it paid for itself
Last month I was doing a sealed system job on a fridge in my garage in Toledo and I used to just trust my ears and the soap bubble trick like I always did. I finally dropped $95 on a proper vacuum gauge with a digital micron readout, and it caught a tiny leak at a flare fitting that no bubbles ever showed me. Two days later the customer called saying it was warm again, I went back, and without that gauge I'd have been guessing for an hour. With it I found a hairline crack in the same line in about 10 minutes and fixed it right. I'm not saying you need the fanciest one, but the cheap manifold gauge I had before was reading whatever it felt like that day. Anyone here got a meter or tool under $150 that earned its keep on a call back?
