That $80 used dryer drum I bought off Facebook Marketplace was a wasted afternoon
Paid 80 bucks for a used stainless drum from a guy in Fresno, drove 45 minutes each way, and when I got it home the bearing surface had a hairline crack I somehow missed in the photos, so tell me how you guys vet used parts online without getting burned.

Man, that sucks. I once drove two hours for a "mint" alternator that turned out to be a fancy paperweight with a bent shaft. My vetting process is basically staring at photos like I'm trying to spot Waldo in a junkyard, and even then I miss stuff. Now I ask for a video of the part spinning or moving, and if they can't do that, I assume it's broken and price it like it is. Also, I always message them asking if there's any damage at all, and if they say no but the part looks sketchy, I just walk away. You're not alone, buddy, we've all funded someone's scrap metal habit at least once.

Lmao my buddy bought a "rebuilt" starter that was just spray painted rust, @simonp76 knows the pain.
