That time I swore ultrasonic cleaning was a gimmick until I saw a crusty 20-year-old oven control board come out looking factory new after 15 minutes in one at a shop near Pittsburgh

I borrowed a $250 cleaner from a buddy just to prove him wrong, and now I'm shopping for my own because the difference in switch contacts on a dryer I fixed last Tuesday was night and day, has anyone else had that moment where you had to eat crow about a tool you were dead set against?

Funny how a $250 tool can make you feel like a genius for being wrong.

Funny how a $250 tool can make you feel like a genius for being wrong" - yeah that's exactly it. I was the same way, thought ultrasonic cleaners were just overpriced toys for hobbyists. Then I dropped a gunky treadmill motor controller in a cheap one I borrowed and it came out looking like I just unboxed it. The corrosion was gone, all the little nooks between components were spotless. Now I keep a small one in the garage specifically for that sort of crusty electronics, never would have believed it.

Right there with you, @linda_dixon49 - that switch contact cleanup is what got me too.
