Used to swear by full motor swaps, but a buzzy dryer changed my view
I always believed swapping out the entire motor was the right move for loud machines. Last week, a customer brought in a dryer that made a buzzing sound. Instead of my usual approach, I took a minute to check the bearings. Turns out, it was just a piece of debris stuck in the blower wheel. Cleaning it out took five minutes and saved the customer a big bill. Now I see that a quick look can often avoid unnecessary parts and labor. Do you usually check the small stuff first or go straight for the big fix?

That line about swearing by full motor swaps hits home. I used to be the king of overkill, replacing whole assemblies for tiny issues. Once I spent hours on a washer just to find a sock in the pump. Felt so dumb, but it taught me to always check the small stuff first. It saves time and avoids that red face moment. What's the funniest simple fix you've ever done?

Was that sock in a washing machine or something else?

Back in my first apartment, our dryer took 3 hours to dry anything. I was ready to call the landlord about a broken heating element. Turns out the vent hose behind the dryer was just a giant ball of lint... cleaned it out in five minutes and it worked like new. I used to jump straight to the big, expensive fixes. Now I always start with the free and stupid checks first. It saves so much hassle.
