Visited a new appliance store in Phoenix and their display setup made me cringe

I checked out that big new store on 7th Street last weekend. They had all the latest smart fridges and ovens on the floor, plugged in and running. Every single door and drawer was left wide open to show the insides, lights blazing. The manager said it helps customers 'visualize the space', but all I could think about was the wear on the hinges and seals after a month of that. Has anyone else seen this and think it's a bad way to treat display models?

That's a terrible way to treat expensive appliances (and a huge waste of power).

Yeah I had the same worry with my new fridge. I ended up just turning the display brightness way down and setting a sleep timer for overnight. It still works fine when I need it but the screen isn't glowing all the time.

Honestly used to think it was fine for displays, but @charles_mitchell is right about the waste. Seeing them all running non-stop changed my mind, it just seems like a bad idea long-term. Maybe it's just me but that's a lot of strain on the parts for no real reason.
