Found a beehive inside a sycamore I was trimming last Tuesday

I was cutting back some deadwood on a big sycamore downtown and halfway through my chainsaw hit something that sounded WRONG. Turns out a hive had moved into a hollow spot right in the trunk, and suddenly I was covered in bees with the saw still running.

Watching how people react to bees is a perfect example of how we jump to conclusions about stuff we don't understand. A buddy of mine once saw a wasp land on his arm and started flailing around like he was on fire, nearly knocked over his own cooler. Turns out it was just cleaning itself for a second and flew off. We do this same thing with car noises, weird looks from strangers, even a text that doesn't have a smiley face. We fill in the blanks with the worst possible story instead of just letting things play out.
