Found a hack for cleaning chainsaw chains with a pressure washer

I tried blasting the gunk out of my chainsaw chain with my PW last week after a big job, and it actually worked way better than the brush and solvent method. Just held it about 6 inches away at 1500 psi and spun the chain by hand. Has anyone else tried this or am I gonna mess something up long term?

Whoa, I'd worry about blasting grease out of the bearings with that much pressure.

Yeah I did the exact same thing last month, worked like a charm. Just make sure you hit it with some chain oil right after and you'll be golden.

The_anthony over here worrying about bearings like they're made of glass or something. Chain oil after a good pressure wash is the secret sauce, but I guess some people have never had to clean caked-on mud out of a derailleur before. Robin's right, just don't point the nozzle directly at a seal for five minutes and you'll be fine. My neighbor's bike has lasted three seasons with this method, no blown bearings yet. Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta go find my pressure washer and give my trusty old mountain bike a spa day.
