Gave up rope saws for pole pruners on storm damage calls
I used to swear by my rope saw for clearing broken branches after storms. Last week I had a job in Cleveland where a big maple limb was hanging over a garage. After 20 minutes of fighting the rope saw with no progress, I grabbed my pole pruner and had the limb down in under 5. The control and speed were way better and I didnt have to worry about the rope binding. Anyone else made the switch for cleanup work?

That 'fought it for 20 minutes' bit proves the old way still works fine with more patience.

That 'fought it for 20 minutes then switched' part hits home. I've noticed this same pattern everywhere, not just tools. People get attached to their old methods and waste time trying to make them work. Like how my neighbor still tries to use a manual can opener when an electric one would save him 5 minutes. Sometimes the new way is just better, even if it feels like giving up on your old trusty gear. The pole pruner giving you that control without the rope fighting back sounds like a no brainer once you actually try it.
