Had a weird one with a Bradford pear in a client's yard
Got called out to a house in Springfield about six months ago because the owner was sure his tree was 'sick.' It was a big, messy Bradford pear, full of those awful-smelling flowers and just dropping junk everywhere. He wanted it gone, but I talked him into a heavy crown reduction and clean-up instead, told him it might buy him a few more years. Went back last week for a different job and almost didn't recognize the thing. The before and after was wild... it went from this dense, top-heavy blob to this open, kinda nice looking shape. The real kicker? He said the smell is almost gone now because so many of the flower clusters were on the branches we took out. Has anyone else had a client's tree totally change its whole vibe like that after a good prune?

Honestly, that's wild how much a trim can change a tree's whole thing. Tbh, we had a neighbor's crabapple that was just a thick, tangled mess and after a proper thinning it looked like a totally different, way nicer tree. It's crazy how letting some light and air in fixes so much. Makes you wonder how many "problem" trees just need the right cuts.

Saw my buddy's huge lilac bush that was basically a solid wall of leaves and dead wood. He got someone to open it up last spring, and now it's covered in way more flowers and doesn't look like a monster anymore. Totally changed the vibe of his whole yard.

Ever think about how much wildlife gets messed up when we clear out all that cover? Birds and squirrels lose their hiding spots in a big way.
