Hot take: the climbing arborist at that job site in Austin was right about rope walking
After watching him bomb through a 60 foot oak in 20 minutes while I was still fiddling with my lanyard at that commercial job off Lamar last spring, I finally admitted that footlocking every tree is just wasting energy on smaller stuff.

You ever notice how the guys who bomb through stuff fastest are always the ones who've been climbing since before footlocking was even a thing? I watched a old timer in Portland clear a monster maple with just a flip line and a hand saw once, no srt or anything.

Nah, that Lamar job was brutal. Footlocking that whole oak would've wrecked my shoulders for a week.
