Watched a three-man crew spend 40 minutes just on the root flares with air spades last Tuesday, and seeing how much less stress the tree showed made me ditch my old habit of cutting flush to the trunk for good, anyone else been converted by watching a demo like that?

Oh man, I feel this so hard. But one thing though, those root flares are where the real work happens, and cutting flush is definitely the old school way that causes way more harm than good. I had a certified arborist rip into me once for doing that on a young oak, and honestly he was right, the tree did way better once I started leaving that collar alone. It's crazy how much we think we know until someone shows us the right way. Glad you caught the demo, it's a total game changer.
