Overheard a homeowner say their oak tree looked 'fine' after that storm last Thursday

I was at the gas station and this guy was telling his buddy his big oak only lost a few small branches in the storm last Thursday. Said he figured it was fine. I wanted to say something but didn't. Had a call two years ago where a tree looked fine until a branch dropped on a kid's playset. Does anyone else just keep their mouth shut or do you speak up when you hear stuff like that?

Man I wish I'd said something to that homeowner about my old maple before it dropped a limb on my car.

Three years I've had a silver maple overhanging my driveway and nothing has happened yet. Most of those horror stories are just bad luck, not some ticking time bomb waiting to go off. Unless the tree is clearly rotting or dying, I'd say you're probably fine.

Most of those horror stories are just bad luck" - my friend's "fine" oak crushed his fence last month.
