The debate over leaving dead trees for habitat vs. taking them down for safety
I used to think leaving a dead oak standing was just asking for trouble until a client's property in Austin showed me a 40 foot snag that was full of woodpeckers and owls. But then a storm last spring brought half of it down onto their shed. How do you guys decide when a hazard tree is worth keeping for the wildlife?
