TIL my climbing rope has seen over 400 trees

I was cleaning my gear last night and finally added up all my job logs from the past five years (I keep a notebook in the truck, you know, the old school way). Hitting that number made me realize how much wear that rope has actually taken from different bark textures and weather. How do you guys decide when a rope is truly done, not just by the manual but by feel?

Man, my rope's retirement plan is based on how many times I've dropped my sandwich while using it. If it's seen more lunches hit the dirt than trees, it's probably time.

Wait you're dropping whole sandwiches? I just get dirt on my hands from the rope. How does a sandwich even fall that far without you noticing? That's a serious commitment to lunch up there. You must be carrying way more than I ever bring to a job.
