Museum curator told me my flint knapping was too perfect

I've been recreating Clovis points for 8 years and always aimed for clean, symmetrical flakes. Last month a curator at the Royal Ontario Museum said my pieces looked like they came from a machine, not a human. Has anyone else gotten feedback that pushed them to embrace more authentic imperfection in their work?

Think about what the curator is actually looking at, not what you made. Those perfect flakes tell a story of skill, but they erase the story of the hunt. A real Clovis point had pressure, fatigue, maybe a kid watching, maybe a wrong strike that got fixed. All that mess is the human part. Your perfection is like a photoshopped picture, it looks good but you can't feel the moment. Maybe make two sets, one for the label and one for the fire pit, and see which one gets people talking.
