My big mistake on a Roman site dig in Spain

Used to just bag artifacts without proper notes. Thought I'd remember everything. Then I lost track of which layer a coin came from. The whole context was ruined. Now I write on each bag with a fine pen right there. GPS coordinates too. Has anyone else messed up context like that?

Nah, overthinking it. A coin's a coin. Who cares which dirt it came from?

@phoenixw11 saying "a coin's a coin" is exactly what my friend Sarah thought lol. She grabbed a bunch of pottery from a trench in Greece and mixed up Iron Age stuff with Roman. The lead guy literally made her re-bag everything while he watched. She still jokes about it but you could tell she was mortified.

Had a buddy who did the same thing on a dig in France, mixed up a Roman coin with one from a medieval layer... totally wrecked his whole timeline for the site report. He still gets crap about it from the lead archaeologist.
