My trowel handle snapped on a dig site in New Mexico last Thursday
I was out near Santa Fe with a small field crew, working a site that looked like a simple pueblo foundation. About two hours in, I was scraping back a layer of fill and the wooden handle on my Marshalltown trowel just cracked clean in half. No warning, no bend, just snap. I had a spare in the truck but it was a half mile walk back. Learned the hard way to keep a backup in my knee pad pouch, not the vehicle. Cost me maybe 40 minutes of daylight. Has anyone else had a favorite tool fail mid-excavation and switch to a different brand after?
