My trowel snapped clean in half while working a dig site near Sedona last Friday.

I was trying to carefully clear around what looked like a pottery shard and the blade just gave out, so has anyone found a brand that can actually handle hard packed desert soil without breaking?

What brand was the trowel that broke on you?

It was a Fiskars transplanting trowel, the handle snapped clean off. I mean, @avery_ross, it's just a garden tool, not a car axle. Maybe it's just me but I've broken a few and they're not that hard to replace.

Oh man, that's rough. I had the same thing happen with a cheap hardware store trowel. I switched to a Wilcox All-Pro trowel a few years back. The one-piece forged steel construction has held up through some seriously rocky soil for me.
