Focused on one tiny patch of sky for 45 minutes and caught a meteor streak through the frame

I kept trying to shoot wide Milky Way shots but everything was blurry until I aimed at a single spot near Cassiopeia and just waited, has anyone else had better luck with narrow framing?

Buddy of mine spent three hours shooting the same spot near Andromeda last winter and got nothing but fuzzy blobs. Then on a whim he pointed his camera at a random empty patch of sky and after about 20 minutes a faint streak showed up. Said it was pure luck and he almost deleted the file.

@robin591 I mean I get where you're coming from but sometimes these random sky shots really do mean a lot to the person who took them. My uncle has a photo like that and it reminds him of a good night every time he sees it.

Man that strikes way too close to home. Pure luck is the only way sometimes.
