Just found out the Hubble Ultra Deep Field image shows galaxies over 13 billion light years away
I was reading an article on the NASA site last night about the Hubble Ultra Deep Field. It said that tiny speck of sky, smaller than a grain of sand held at arm's length, contains about 10,000 galaxies. My brain just can't process that scale. I've looked at that photo a hundred times and never really got how far back in time we're seeing. Has anyone else had a moment where a space photo fact just broke their brain like that?

My friend stared at that photo and just said "oh" for like five minutes straight.

Yeah the "oh" for five minutes thing is real. When a photo hits that hard, you just gotta sit with it. I get what @the_alice meant about feeling small, it's like your brain needs time to process the scale. Best thing is to not fight that feeling, just let it wash over you.
