Noticed a huge difference in my nebula shots after I started stacking 30 second exposures instead of 60
I used to do 60 second exposures on the Orion Nebula and always got this blown out core with no detail. About 3 months ago I dropped down to 30 seconds and doubled the number of frames. The difference in the core detail is night and day. I can actually see the trapezium stars now instead of just a white blob. Has anyone else found that shorter exposures with more stacking gives better results than trying to go long?

Longer exposures work fine if you've got the right gear for it.

Yeah but isn't that kind of a trap though? Once you start dropping cash on a sturdy tripod and a remote shutter, you're already halfway to buying a whole new lens.
