Paid $600 for a motorized star tracker and it either saved my astrophotography or ruined it
I dropped $600 on an iOptron SkyGuider Pro last year for deep space shots, but after 8 months the motor started stuttering in cold weather. Now I'm debating if manual tracking with a barn door mount at $50 would've been smarter - has anyone else had issues with motorized trackers failing on you?

I mean, idk, is it really that deep? Like yeah it sucks the motor messed up, but you got 8 months out of it and cold weather kinda messes with a lot of stuff. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like people get real dramatic about gear failures when it's just part of the hobby.

Barn door mounts are dead reliable. Had a tracker fail on me too, swapped and never looked back.
