PSA: my star trails got ruined by one porch light in Tucson, so I started shooting from a dirt lot off Speedway
Last month I drove out to the desert west of Tucson to stack 3 hours of star trails with my old Canon and a cheap intervalometer, but about 40 minutes in, a neighbor flipped on a porch light half a mile away and washed out every frame. I drove home mad, then came back two nights later and parked in an empty dirt lot off Speedway instead, facing away from town. The glow was still there but way less, and I ended up with 2 clean hours of trails. Has anyone else found a spot near a city that actually works, or do you just drive an extra hour out?

Same thing happened to me with a gas station light, but shooting from a dirt lot saved my shots too.
