Rant: I was trying to get a shot of the Milky Way and a skunk walked right into my frame
I was out in Joshua Tree at 2 AM, and I had to freeze for like ten minutes while it sniffed around my tripod legs. Has anyone else had wildlife totally ruin a planned astro shot?

Oh man, I wish a skunk would ruin my shots! That's an awesome bonus, not a ruin. You got a unique foreground subject most people would kill for. The story is way better than a plain sky shot.

Wow, I never saw it that way before! You're totally right that the weird stuff makes the best stories. I guess I'd rather have a funny skunk tale than another boring perfect picture.

My last camping trip I got 47 blurry shots of a raccoon trying to open my cooler. That's the real content right there. Honestly the perfect shots are boring, the messed up ones are what you actually remember. I'd rather look back at a photo of my friend's shocked face as a bird steals her sandwich than some postcard sunset. Who wants to remember a nice sky when you can remember chaos?

Totally agree about the weird stuff making better stories. My best camping photo has a squirrel stealing my granola bar right in the frame.
