Appreciation post: The old timer who showed me the soap trick for stubborn hoses
Back in my first year at a shop in Dayton, I was fighting a heater hose stuck on a '98 Civic for over an hour, almost ready to cut it off. A retired mechanic visiting his son saw me struggling and said, 'Kid, a little bit of liquid hand soap on the inside of the hose works better than any lube.' I tried it and the hose slid right on. Do you all have any other simple tricks like that for common stuck parts?

My trick is usually just making it worse somehow.

Forget the wrench, you need heat. Those things weld themselves on there over time. A little propane torch is the only real fix.
