Been fighting with a customer for 20 minutes about using impact guns on lugnuts instead of torque wrenches
He says it's fine because he's been doing it for 15 years with no problems, but I've seen three wheels snap off this year alone from overtightened studs, so which side is actually right here, the old-school feel or the spec sheet?

Nah, spec sheet all the way. Feel doesn't protect against a snapped stud flying off at highway speed.

Wait, you're really trusting a stud that just feels solid at highway speeds? That's wild to me. I've seen those things snap clean off a buddy's car after a simple torque check, no warning at all. Trusting feel over a torque wrench is like trusting a blindfolded guy to judge a paint job.
