Can we talk about $140 for a code reader that actually paid for itself
Honestly I used to think any cheap OBD2 scanner was fine, I had a $20 one that just showed codes and nothing else. Last month my buddy's truck kept dying at red lights and the cheap one said P0171, so I chased vacuum leaks for 2 days. Bought that $140 Autel unit with live data and it showed the fuel trims pegged at +25% on one bank. Turned out to be a clogged fuel filter, 20 bucks and 30 minutes. That scanner already saved my buddy a shop diagnostic fee, so I'm a believer now. Anyone else go cheap on tools first and regret it?
