Found a way to crack frozen brake lines loose without snapping them

Working on a 98 F-150 that sat for 2 years in a field near Portland. Those brake line fittings were completely seized with rust. I tried heat, PB Blaster, even a breaker bar and just snapped one. Then an old timer told me to rap the fitting with a hammer a few times before loosening. Not hard, just sharp taps to break the corrosion bond. Worked on the other 3 lines without a single break. Has anyone else tried this or got another method for rusted fittings?

Are people really snapping brake lines on a regular enough basis to make this a whole technique lol? Seems like common sense that tapping a stuck bolt before cranking on it would be the first thing you try.

Exactly @ninaowens, the real issue is that people use too much torque too fast without giving the bolt time to work loose with penetrating oil first. A quick tap and some patience usually saves the day before you even break out the breaker bar. Most snapped brake lines I've seen were from rushing the job, not from lack of tapping technique.
