Had to pick between a Harbor Freight scan tool and a Snap-On one last month
My old OBD2 reader finally died after 10 years. I was on the fence between grabbing a $50 Harbor Freight special or dropping $800 on a Snap-On. I went with the cheap one to test it out. It worked fine for reading codes on my buddy's 2012 F-150, but it couldn't pull live data on a newer Chrysler minivan. Has anyone else found the budget tools hit a wall with modern electronics?

Wait, the cheap one couldn't pull live data on a newer minivan? That's crazy, I figured a basic code reader could at least do that much lol. My old $60 Innova one handles live data on my 2018 Honda just fine, so that's a real bummer.
