Hit 200,000 miles on my personal F-150 yesterday and it hit different

I bought that truck new back in 2004 for $24,000 out the door. Yesterday I looked down and there it was, 200k on the odometer. I've replaced the alternator twice, did the water pump at 150k, but that old 5.4 Triton still fires up every morning. Any of you guys got a high mileage vehicle you're stubborn about keeping on the road?

200k is a real milestone, that's awesome. My old 2000 Tacoma just rolled over 280k and I cant bring myself to let it go even though the frame is getting a little crusty. Its got a little tick at cold start that's been there for like 50k miles and I just figure if it aint broke dont fix it. The way these older trucks just keep chugging along with basic maintenance makes me feel like they dont build em like that anymore.

Yo @holly_reed55, I read somewhere that the frame rust on those first gens was bad enough Toyota did a recall on it... did you ever check if yours qualifies? That cold start tick sounds like it's part of the truck's personality at this point, haha.

@holly_reed55 that tick at cold start is probably just the lifters or maybe an exhaust manifold leak, not the end of the world. those 3.4L V6s in the first gen Tacomas are basically bulletproof if you keep the timing belt and water pump on schedule. frame rust is the real killer though, i've seen guys patch em up with plate steel for a few hundred bucks and get another 100k out of em. if the frame aint rotting through in a bad spot yet just keep running it, those trucks are worth more than anything new on the lot right now.
