Last Tuesday was the worst brake job day of my whole career

I picked up a 2015 Camry at 8am, scheduled for pads and rotors all around. Caliper slide pins on the right front were frozen solid, took me 90 minutes just to get them loose with heat and a breaker bar. Then the left rear caliper bracket bolt stripped out when I was torquing it back down, and I had to run to the local Napa in Chester to get a replacement. Got back, finished the car by 2pm, and the customer complained the pedal felt spongy. Turned out the master cylinder had internal leakage that I missed on my test drive. Had to order the part from the dealer, car sat overnight, and the customer was furious. Anyone else have a single job just cascade into a nightmare like that?

Man that is brutal from start to finish. Frozen slide pins and stripped bracket bolts are already enough to ruin your day, but then a bad master cylinder on top of it? That's the kind of stuff that makes you question if you pissed off a mechanic spirit or something. I had a similar cascade on a Subaru Outback last year where every single step just snowballed into another problem. The customer gave me an earful too, like I was hiding problems just to make their life hard. It really stings when you pour all that time into it and still end up with a mad customer and a car sitting overnight. You definitely earned a cold beer after that mess, no question about it.

I started using my phone to snap a picture of every part before I put it on after a job like that (2012 Accord, similar nightmare). That way when something goes wrong later, I can prove I didn't mess with anything, and it's helped me calm down a few customers before they went full rage mode.

Honestly, that "snowballed into another problem" part hits hard because it really does feel like that sometimes.
