Rant: I just realized I've replaced over 500 oxygen sensors in my career, which feels crazy.

It hit me when I was doing my third one this week on a 2015 F-150, and I started wondering if anyone else has a weirdly high count on a specific, mundane part.

But isn't that just the normal wear and tear for a common part?

Normal wear and tear depends on the expected lifespan, right @bennett.evan? If a common part fails way sooner than it should, that's not normal. It points to a design flaw or a bad batch of materials. We see this all the time where cheap parts are used to cut costs. The real question is whether the failure rate is higher than the industry standard for that component.

My buddy's car had its water pump go at 40,000 miles. The dealer called it normal, but the shop said that model had a known bad run of pumps.
