Rant: Old timer told me to run engines without oil pressure after a rebuild, I think he's dead wrong
I was swapping a head gasket on a '97 Civic in my buddy's garage last weekend and his dad walks in, says you gotta crank it dry for 15 seconds to prime the lifters. I told him that's how you grind bearings to dust and now we're arguing. Who here actually primes their oil system and what's your method?

Man that's rough. I feel for you getting stuck in that argument. Old school guys mean well but some of their methods are straight up scary. I always pre-fill my oil filter and pour a little down the oil cap before first start. Then I pull the fuel pump relay and crank till I see pressure on the gauge.

And after all that, my last build fired right up with zero fuss.
