Shoutout to the old timer who called out my torque wrench habit
I was doing head gaskets on a 5.3 Silverado and just going by feel with my clicker wrench, like I always did. He walked by and said, 'Kid, you're guessing, and that engine will guess back in about 15,000 miles.' Now I use a digital torque angle gauge for every single head bolt and it feels like a different job. How many of you actually use the angle method on every engine, or do you still trust the click?

Wait, are we talking about dog training clickers or torque wrenches? The original post was about working on an engine.

What's wrong with a good clicker?

What's the problem, @wendy131? A clicker is just a fancy way to tell your dog you're holding a treat hostage. It's not training, it's a tiny bribery device.

My old lab was a rescue and wouldn't take treats at all. The clicker marked the exact behavior we wanted without needing food right then. It built his confidence when nothing else worked.
