Warning: That cheap belt tensioner I bought last spring finally let go on I-95 near Richmond this morning
It threw the serpentine belt at 70 mph and I lost power steering and alternator in the same second, has anyone else had bad luck with those no-name cast aluminum tensioners?

Yep, that's the cast aluminum garbage for ya. Same thing happened to my buddy's Tahoe on 64 near Williamsburg. Bearing seized up and the whole pulley cracked in half. Those cheap ones are just stamped metal with a bad bearing pressed in. Spend the extra 20 bucks on a Gates or Dayco next time, like I tell everyone. The no-name stuff is pure junk.

My buddy Mike had the same thing happen on his F150 coming back from Galveston. Bearing locked up and the pulley shattered, threw the belt off at 70 mph. He was stuck on the side of 45 for three hours waiting for a tow.
