Almost paid $650 to ship my Civic, then tried a site I'd never heard of

I was about to sign with the first broker that called me back for my move from Phoenix to Denver, and they wanted $650 upfront before they'd even find a driver. A guy at my new office mentioned he'd used uShip last spring and paid $410 for the same route, so I gave it a shot. Drivers bid on your listing and you can see their reviews and dot numbers right there, which the broker never showed me. Anyone else have luck with the bidding sites, or did I just get a rare good one?
