PSA: found out the average car shipping quote jumps 32% if you book less than a week out
I was poking around a broker's blog out of Fort Lauderdale last night and they posted their own booking data from 2023. Turns out customers who locked in a carrier 10 days ahead paid about $980 on average for a coast to coast run, but anyone booking inside 5 days got hit with roughly $1,300. Back when I shipped my truck from Tucson to Charlotte in 2016 I just called around and took whatever number sounded fair, nobody ever explained the timing thing to me. Now I get why those reviews screaming about bait and switch are all from people who booked on a Thursday for a Saturday pickup. Has anyone here actually tested this by getting two quotes on the same route a week apart?
