Hot take: my $85 transmission cooler line taught me the extended warranty was the only part worth it
Last Tuesday my truck started leaving small red drips on the driveway in Fresno, and by Thursday the transmission was slipping bad at stoplights. The shop quoted me $2,100 for a new cooler line set plus fluid and labor, which stung since I had just paid off the truck in March. I dug out the paperwork from when I bought it and realized my extended warranty covered the lines but not the fluid flush, so I was out $340 instead of the full amount. What got me was the fine print said coolant and transmission lines fall under "powertrain components" while hoses and belts do not, and I never would have guessed that split. The guy at the counter said most people never read that page and just eat the whole bill. So what does your warranty actually cover that surprised you, and did you find out the easy way or the hard way?
