Chose the Garmin G3X over the Dynon SkyView for my experimental build

I went back and forth for three months before picking the G3X Touch for my RV-14 panel. The Dynon SkyView had better pricing by about $1,500, but the Garmin user interface just clicked with me during the demo at Oshkosh. After 20 hours of flight time, the touchscreen has been rock solid and the integration with the GTN 650 is seamless. Anyone else regret their avionics choice after the first install?

Honestly, is it really that big of a deal? lol. I mean, both screens do the same thing at the end of the day. You're still gonna get where you're going, the engine's not gonna blow up because you picked one brand over the other. It's just a few menus and button placements, not like you're choosing between life and death here. You'll get used to whatever you pick after a few flights anyway.

Buddy of mine picked one and spent the first flight swearing at the menus, said it was fine after that.

Wait did you see that thread on VAF where a guy compared the G3X boot time against the SkyView? Honestly, that video changed my mind completely - the Garmin screen was up and running way faster, which matters more than people think when you're sitting on the ramp and it's hot as hell outside. Tbh, the cost difference got me too at first, but after reading about how the Garmin maps update cleaner with the ForeFlight integration, I was sold. Ngl, the first few flights with any new screen are gonna feel a little weird no matter what, but I think picking based on which menus make sense to your brain is actually the smartest move. My buddy went Dynon and he's happy, but he spends way more time digging through pages to find the fuel flow screen than I do.
