Hit 10,000 flight hours last week and my first instinct was to check the logs again
Just crossed 10,000 hours on a Gulfstream G450 I've been maintaining for the last 6 years. I told my lead and he just laughed and said 'congrats, now go fix the radar altimeter squawk'. It's weird hitting a big number like that and realizing nobody outside this hangar even cares lol. But for me it's wild to think back on all the weird mid-flight fixes that got me here. Has anyone else hit a major hour milestone and felt kinda strange about it?

Buddy of mine hit 15,000 hours on a 737 and he said he just sat in the crew lounge for like 20 minutes staring at the wall. Nobody asked if he was okay.

Didn't that "nobody cares" feeling make you question why you even keep track?

Start tracking the moments that made you laugh or scared you, not just the numbers.

Yeah I had that same moment when I was maybe 200 hours from my ATP minimums. I sat in the hotel lobby for an hour after a 4 day trip and just watched people walk by. The trick I figured out is to keep a separate log for yourself, not just the official one. I mark down weird things like that time I landed in a crosswind that made me sweat through my shirt or the passenger who brought me a bag of chips. Those are the details nobody else cares about but they make the number mean something. @robin591, that feeling is real and it won't go away unless you start tracking for you, not for anyone else's approval.
