Hit 10,000 flight hours logged and it felt different than I expected
Crossed 10,000 hours on my logbook Tuesday during a routine pitot static check on a 737. Realized that milestone sneaks up on you when you're not chasing it, and now I'm wondering if anyone else stopped counting the big numbers and just started noticing the small stuff like harness runs and connector pins.

...but honestly that's EXACTLY how it happened for my buddy Rick. He flies freight in a King Air and he called me one night, not even excited, just said "hey, I hit 9,999 hours today, the next one's the big one" and we both kind of laughed because he'd been dreading the number for YEARS. Then he did a routine run the next day, same old route, same old preflight, and he said it just felt like any other Tuesday. He told me the real shift came later when he was replacing a gasket on the nose gear and noticed how clean the cotter pins were, and that's when it hit him that he'd done this so many times it was just muscle memory now. Strange how the big milestones vanish and the tiny details are what actually stick with you.

Wait, do you think the cotter pin thing is just because he finally slowed down enough to actually notice it? Like the whole 10,000 hours means we finally stop rushing long enough to see the stuff we've been doing on autopilot for years? Honestly that tracks for me. I've hit some big numbers at my own thing and the moment never lands like you think it will. The real stuff is always quieter, almost boring. It's the small proof that you've done something a thousand times that finally makes it feel real.
