Hot take: the lead on my last C-check was right about my wire bundle lacing and I hate that she was
So about 5 months back I was doing a harness rework on a CRJ and I was pretty proud of how fast I was turning out laced bundles. The lead walked over, looked at one for maybe 10 seconds, and said flat out "that's airline pretty, not field pretty." I asked what that even means and she said the spacing was too wide at the bends and I was stacking ties right on top of each other where the bundle flexed, which bites into the insulation after enough vibration cycles. I pushed back at first because it looked clean to me, but she had me pull a service doc and walk the bend radius section and sure enough my gaps were all over the place. Now I mark my spacing with a grease pencil before I even start lacing, and I give myself about a 0.5 inch cushion around any clamp or breakout instead of crowding them. It adds maybe 15 minutes per bundle but my rework rate on the follow-up inspection went to zero, which never happens for me. Curious if anyone else got that same "pretty vs field" speech and what you actually changed, or am I the only one who had to eat crow on this.
