I finally gave up on that cheap crimper from the online auction site
It mangled three D-sub pins before I tossed it, costing me about $40 in parts and an hour of my time. Anyone know a good brand for hand tools that won't wreck a simple connector job?

Saw a forum thread where people kept recommending the Engineer brand for this. Their crimpers seem to have a good rep for not ruining pins.

Ever tried the PA-09 model? Solid for small connectors. Heard the same about Engineer, never had a pin crush with mine.

Ugh, I have to disagree on the Engineer brand (sorry). I bought a pair of their crimpers last year and the jaw alignment was off right out of the box. It still mashed the insulation on every single pin. Maybe I got a bad one, but it totally put me off. Sometimes you just need to find an old used tool from a known good brand, even if it costs more.
