Just realized half the guys I work with don't know how to read a wiring diagram properly

Last week I was troubleshooting a comms issue on a King Air and the lead technician kept flipping pages trying to find the pinout. I walked over and showed him the wire gauge is listed right there in the corner, not buried on page 12. He's been doing this for 8 years and never noticed. It wasted a good 45 minutes of our afternoon. Has anyone else run into folks missing the simple stuff like that on schematics?

Wait, so you had to waste almost an hour just because he skipped over the basic layout? That's the kind of thing that makes you want to walk out and grab coffee for everyone while you cool off. I'm totally with you, sometimes the simplest details get overlooked by the most experienced people.

Honestly, I started just pulling up a blank doc and making them list out the basics before we even touch the file. Saved me like 30 minutes on the last project, they caught their own mistake before I had to say anything.

Ugh, I feel you. Next time just walk them through where the critical info lives on a page, like gauge and connector type, before they even start flipping. It's faster to teach that upfront than to dig out of a rabbit hole later.
