Pitot static test failure saved my butt last Tuesday

I was running a pitot static check on a King Air at Decatur airport and the altimeter kept showing 40 feet off at 10,000 feet. Turned out a mouse nest was blocking the static port on the right side, not even visible from the ground. Anyone else find weird stuff blocking ports that you almost missed?

Funny how some people just seem to catch every break, isn't it, @piper779? What do you think is really behind their streak, just random luck or something else they're not saying? Curious if you've seen it play out before with other folks in the same spot.

Nancy and I have watched this exact thing happen with three people in our department over the last two years. Every single one of them had someone on the inside whispering in the right ears, plain and simple. It's not about luck, it's about who they had coffee with before anyone else even knew the job was open. @nancyj11, if you want in on that, start inviting the quiet decision makers to lunch, not the loud talkers in the break room.
