PSA: Don't let digital tools make you forget how to read a wiring diagram

I mean, back in the day, we traced faults with just a meter and a paper schematic. Now, if the display freezes, you're stuck without a clue, idk maybe it's just me but that's a real worry.

Tools can't replace knowing the actual system.

a quick fix" really? when the whole system is down and you can't even pull up the wiring info... that's not quick. you're just standing there with a dead tablet and a live machine. i've seen guys totally freeze up because they only know the touchscreen menus. it's scary.

@blair_taylor32, what happens when the diagnostic software crashes completely and won't reboot? You can't just reset a tablet if the update fails and leaves you with a blank screen. Then you're stuck with a live circuit and no guide except the paper diagram taped inside the panel. If you never learned to trace wires without a helper, you're totally lost. That frozen screen isn't just a quick fix, it's a sign you might not know the basics anymore.

But why see new tools as a bad thing? Honestly, they just make the job easier and faster. Tbh, a frozen screen is a quick fix, not some big skill crisis.
