Rant: old lead asked if I even know what a transistor does, 8 years in
Been doing avionics bench work for 8 years now. Last month a senior tech with 30 years in watched me reflow a board and goes "you know what that part actually does, right?" in front of two apprentices. I said it switches current, he laughed and walked off. He never explained anything further, just that one line. Is it normal for old timers to gatekeep like that, or was I supposed to prove something I didn't ask about?

and honestly that whole thing just rubs me the wrong way. like @jade_jenkins said, it was a jerk move, plain and simple. if he actually wanted to teach you something he would have stuck around and explained instead of dropping a one liner and bouncing. sounds like he just wanted to feel big in front of the apprentices, which is its own kind of sad. youve been doing this 8 years, you know your stuff, and thats what matters. dont let that clown get in your head.
