That time the Honeywell box bricked a King Air for three days straight
Back in '09 I was working a King Air C90 in Wichita and this Honeywell KTR 908 comm unit just refused to sync after a swap. Spent 68 hours chasing grounds, reseating trays, even reflowed solder on the backplane. Finally found a cracked ferrite bead hiding behind a harness clamp that was killing the squelch. Has anyone else run into something dumb like that on older Collins gear?

I mean, @milarodriguez, 68 hours sounds brutal but honestly that's just King Air life sometimes. I've seen guys chase a bad ground for a whole week on a 200 and it turned out to be a bent pin in a cannon plug. Is it really that crazy when you think about it?

Wait, you spent 68 hours on that? That's insane! I can't believe it took that long just to find a cracked ferrite bead hidden behind a harness clamp. Those things are tiny, but they can totally ruin your day on a King Air. I've seen ground loops and bad trays eat up time before, but three days straight for something that small sounds like a nightmare. Did you have the whole avionics bay torn apart by the end of it?
